It's hard to believe that Steel Tormentor have been plugging away for this long. Harder still to think that their incredible debut album 'Unleashed' was - er, unleashed six full years ago. They've not had the easiest time with lineups, but James Kelly has kept the flame burning long enough to complete this second album. They've retained the quality songwriting, and brought a greater maturity to these tracks. Plus, it's got a standout contender for best Irish metal track of 2010 in the epic 'Warrior'.

It's that time of year again - the annual Vibe For Philo. It's twenty five years since the death of Phil Lynott, making this one just a bit special. The theme this year is the Black Rose (personal favourite there). It's happening in Vicar St on January 4th. There'll be a separate event earlier in the day, hosted by Xmusic, who you'll have seen hooking up with MI lately.
